Peterson Fire Days

The Peterson Fire Department invites you and yours to come celebrate community and enjoy a fun-filled weekend. Profits go towards various local organizations involved, next year’s Fire Days and to new bunker gear for the firemen.

Weekend activities and events

  • Friday-Saturday: Softball tournament at Brooke Memorial Field
  • Friday, Saturday and Sunday the pool is open from 1-7 p.m. with a volleyball net. Admission is $4 per day per person

Friday, July 31

  • 5-6:30 p.m. GFWC Tuesday Club Maidrite/Coney Dog Meal at Community Center. Serving Maidrites, hot dogs, coney cogs, chips, watermelon, bars or cookies and drink for $10
  • 5-11 p.m. Peterson Fire Dept. Beer Garden open at Main Street tent
  • 5:30-6:30 p.m. Community Club Fire in the Hole Urban Golf, register at Community Center. Fire in the hole prizes on Main Street at 8:45 p.m.
  • 6-9 p.m. Youth pickleball tournament at Kirchner Park
  • 7-11 p.m. Street dance with Rick Singer, a one man band on Main Street
  • 9:30 p.m. Kids’ movie night with popcorn and pop at Kirchner Park

Saturday, Aug. 1

  • 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Rebel 712 serving loaded teas/dirty sodas at the Senior Center
  • 7:30 a.m/8 a.m. Sioux Central Cross Country 5K Run/ Walk at 4th and Main
  • 8-10 a.m. Heritage Coffee & Donuts at Boarding House
  • 9 a.m. Parade line-up on Front Street
  • 10 a.m. Parade starts
  • 11 a.m.-1 p.m. American Legion baked potato with all the fixings fundraising meal at the Community Center
  • 11 a.m.-5 p.m. D&L Ceramics painting at pool shelter house
  • 12-5 p.m. Shop local vendors around Main Street
  • 12-3 p.m. Car show on Main Street, no registration fee and features door prizes
  • Noon-midnight, Peterson Fire Dept. Beer Garden on Main Street
  • 12:30-2:30 p.m. Kids’ activities with bubble cannon at Kirchner Park
  • 1-3 p.m. Bingo at Community Center
  • 1-4 p.m. Heritage Museums at the park open
  • 3-5 p.m. Pedal pull, water car races at fire station, register at 2:30 p.m.
  • 4-8 p.m. Corn Hole tournament at Main Street tent
  • 5-7 p.m. Fire department pulled pork meal at the Community Center. Chicken Bingo bets taken during meal with chicken release at 7 p.m.
  • 8 p.m.-midnight, Johnny Holm Band performance on Main Street

Sunday, Aug. 2

  • 10 a.m. Church service at the tent on Main Street with Pastor Tyler Thomsen

At the community center:

  • 11 a.m.-1 p.m. 4-H Rabbit Ranglers grilled chicken lunch including cheesy potatoes, dessert and lemonade and water for free-will donation
  • 12:30 p.m. Fireman’s badge installation ceremony
  • 1 p.m. Pie auction
