Unconditional surrender: A visit with Ulysses S. Grant

Posted

Peter Grady, a speaker for the Humanities Iowa Program, will perform at the Albert City Public Library on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. The show explores the life and times of Ulysses S. Grant from his childhood in Ohio, his schooling as a cadet at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, his service in the United States Army and ultimately, his service as President of the United States.

Since Peter’s first performance in 2012 at the Iowa Veterans’ Home in Marshalltown, he has completed over 175 presentations at history museums, community theaters, public libraries and other venues in communities of all sizes.

Ulysses S. Grant comes to life in this informative, humorous and touching portrayal. Come, meet the victorious general whose strategy and tenacity won the Civil War, the President who struggled to rebuild his country after the war, and the husband and father whose final efforts were devoted to the support of his wife and family.

Mark your calendars to attend. If you are a history buff, a student, or just interested in learning more about the Civil War or this President, you won’t want to miss this show.  Refreshments will be served after the program.
