The public is invited to join Witter Gallery for an Art Walk on Sunday, June 29, to learn more about the Storm Lake Lighthouse Project. The 2025 Witter Gallery’s Lighthouse Art Walk is sponsored by Central Bank and will focus on the lighthouses located along the banks of Storm Lake from Sunset Campground to the Living Heritage Tree Museum in Sunset Park. The unique art project began in 2021, when two local artists commissioned the first set of seven-feet-tall, molded lighthouses. Each lighthouse has a special story.
Witter Gallery organized the event to promote local artists and community art in Storm Lake. The Witter Gallery’s Lighthouse Art Walk begins at noon at the shelter across from the Sunrise Campground and finishes with an Ice Cream Social and Storm Lake Municipal Band Concert in Sunset Park at 2 p.m. There is limited parking at the shelter, so participants are encouraged to be dropped off and then be picked up at Sunset Park for the band concert in the park.
There is no pre-registration required. Same day registration is by free-will offering; contributions are appreciated. The Art Walk will stop along the way at each of the lighthouse locations to learn more about each of the artists’ visions and techniques of creating their personalized lighthouse. Many of the local artists will share their story with the group.
