Tall Corn Days

Sioux Rapids will celebrate its annual Tall Corn Days festival this weekend. Golf all day for only 25 bucks, see who grew the tallest corn and head to the Valley of Beauty for three days of fun.

Friday, July 25

  • 8 a.m. All day golf for $25 at Little Sioux Golf & Country Club
  • 5-7 p.m. Register tall corn entries at city park
  • 5-7 p.m. American Legion sweet corn feed at fire station
  • 6-9 p.m. Food trucks (Storm Lake Corn Dog Company and La Abuela) at city park
  • 6:30 p.m. Slow pitch softball tournament at city park
  • 7:15 p.m. Open mic night at Historical Theatre
  • 9 p.m. Midnight swim at SR Pool
  • 9 p.m.-1 a.m. DJ/Patio Party with DJ Chris at The Wagon Wheel

Saturday, July 26

  • 7 a.m. 5K Run/walk registration at American Legion
  • 8 a.m. 5K Run/walk begins
  • 8 a.m. All day golf for $25 at Little Sioux Golf & Country Club
  • 8:30 a.m. Slow pitch softball tournament at city park
  • 8:30 a.m. Parade registration/line up at Eighth and Thomas streets
  • 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Vendors/ garage sale at Snook’s Carpet
  • 10 a.m. Tall Corn Days Parade
  • 11 a.m. Historical Museum open all day
  • 11 a.m. Kids inflatables/ corn pits at city park
  • 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Registration for bag tournament at city park
  • 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Civil War reenactment at city park
  • 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Project Playground lunch at city park shelter house
  • 12 p.m. Bean bag tournament at city park
  • 12-4 p.m. Pie and ice cream social at Historical Theatre
  • 1 p.m. Meet the Author: Helene Viall at Historical Theatre
  • 1-4 p.m. Dunk tank and kids activities at SR Pool
  • 1:30-3 p.m. Kids water fights with SRFD at SR Pool
  • 3 p.m. Registration for rubber duckie race at SR Pool
  • 3:30 p.m. Rubber duckie race send off at SR Pool
  • 2-5 p.m. Alumni social at Fire Station

Sunday, July 27

  • 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Historical Society breakfast at Fire Station
  • 10:30 a.m. Community church service at Historical Theatre
  • 11 a.m. Sand volleyball at city park
  • 11 a.m.-12 p.m. ATV/UTV fun ride registration at city park
  • 1 p.m. NW lowa Mini-Rod Tractor Pulls, held west of city park (sponsored by Community State Bank of Sioux Rapids)
