Ruth Ann Schmidt, 87, of Schaller died July 7, 2025, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.
Funeral services will take place Monday, July 14, at 11 a.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Schaller. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Ruth Ann Carolyn Schmidt was born Aug. 16, 1937, the daughter of Clarence and Clara Weise in Fonda. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Fonda. Ruth attended school at Our Lady of Good Counsel School in Fonda. She went on to attend Briar Cliff College.
On Dec. 31, 1956, Ruth was united in marriage to Neil Schmidt at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. They were blessed with three children: Alan, David and Douglas.
Ruth loved to travel. She enjoyed being outside, going fishing and camping. You could find Ruth enjoying a good book or playing cards with her friends. More than anything, she treasured time with her family and loved spoiling her grandchildren. Ruth will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish Ruth’s memory include her son Alan Schmidt of Schaller; grandchildren: Jamie (Evan) Grieme, Kayle (Manny) Wilds, Tessa (Kurt) Petersen, Ashley (Nicholas) Genes and Cassie (Ben) Wehrkamp; 11 great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Neil Schmidt; sons, David Schmidt and Douglas Schmidt; daughter Wenda; and sister Joyce.
