Paul Nicolaus Johannes Boisen was born on March 15, 1938, in Early, the son of Henry and Henrietta (Reineke) Boisen. As an infant, he was baptized at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where he was later confirmed on April 6, 1952.

Paul attended school in Early where he graduated from high school. During his high school years he was active in many sports and played in the school band.

On June 3, 1961, Paul was united in marriage to Sharon Flodin in Duluth, Minn. Together, they were blessed with two children, Ron and Ricky.

Paul proudly served in the United States Air Force for 20 years. During his military career he was stationed at many Air Force bases around the world including tours in both Thailand and Vietnam. Paul worked as a hydraulic mechanic on a variety of aircraft, including the Douglas A-1 Skyraider, Lockheed 121 Radar Constellation (Connie), F-102, F-104, F-105, and F-4 Phantom fighter jets. Paul retired from the Air Force at Myrtle Beach, S.C., and returned to Storm Lake where he worked at Peterson Appliance for 15 years. One of his proudest accomplishments was participating in the Military Veterans Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., in May 2017.

In his free time, Paul enjoyed camping, boating, water skiing and fishing. He took great pride in maintaining his acreage which included a large collection of hostas and peonies. He also enjoyed gardening and caring for the many fruit trees used to make homemade jams and pies.

Above all, Paul had a true passion for classic cars; over the years he restored several. Paul and Sharon enjoyed spending weekends attending car shows, usually coming home with trophies to add to their already large collection.

Family was very important to Paul, and he cherished the time spent with those he loved. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Sharon Boisen of Ruthven; son Ron (Cathy) Boisen of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter-in- law Julie (Ricky) Boisen of West Seneca, N.Y., grandchildren: Brent Boisen, Brian (Brittany) Boisen and Brendan Boisen; great-grandchildren: Adain Boisen, Arlo Boisen and Lucy Boisen; extended family and many friends.
