Nicholas Skog

Nicholas Evan Skog, 38, of Albert City died Aug. 24, 2026. 

Funeral services will take place Friday, Aug. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert City. Burial will be Fairfield Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 27, from 5-8 p.m. at Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City. In lieu of flowers, the family will be directing memorials to a college fund for Nick’s children.

Nick was born Dec. 14, 1987, the son of Robert and Martha (Tolan) Skog in Storm Lake. He was baptized as an infant and later confirmed his faith at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert City. Nick attended Albert City-Truesdale School and later graduated in 2006 from Sioux Central Community High School in Sioux Rapids. He went on to attend Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge.

As a child, Nick loved sports, especially football and wrestling. He was a member of 4-H and FFA where he enjoyed his livestock projects. Nick discovered a passion for bull riding while attending college. He was a true outdoorsman and you could find him hunting and fishing. Nick worked a variety of jobs including working as a meat butcher at the Newell Locker, construction, electrical work and he helped on the farm. More than anything, Nick treasured his time with his children: Dominic, Ryleigh and Noah. They were his pride and joy, and he enjoyed attending their various activities. Nick will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Nick is survived by his parents, Robert and Martha Skog of Albert City; children: Dominic, Ryleigh and Noah; siblings: John (Tricia) Willeford of Laurens; Adam (Cassi) Skog of Albert City; Isaac Skog of Albert City; Leasa Gamrath of Storm Lake; nieces and nephews: Landon (Kelsey) Gamrath, Lura Gamrath, Alyssa and Deklan Willeford, McKinley Skog; many aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Thomas and Eva Tolan, Wendell and Lucille Skog; aunts and uncles: Terry Phillips, Grace (Chuck) Engelhart, David (Sue) Tolan, Alan Tolan, Richard Tolan, Duane Tolan, Ted Tolan and Jake Tolan; and cousins, Arnie Tolan and Cory Edmunds.
