Nancy Kay (Klahs) Slayton, 79, passed away Sept. 11, 2025, in Plano, Texas.
Funeral Mass will take place Saturday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Nancy Kay Klahs was born on July 30, 1946, to F. Elmer Klahs and Myra Kathryn Klahs. She was the first born of 10 siblings on her father’s birthday. Nancy was raised on Klahs farms, rural Rembrandt and Storm Lake.
Nancy attended elementary at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Storm Lake and graduated from Rembrandt High School in 1964. Nancy attended Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., and Mercy School of Nursing in Council Bluffs.
Nancy moved to Dallas, Texas, at the end of 1967. She resided and worked there until her death. Nancy was an employment consultant and physician recruiter for 50 plus years, owning her own business for over 30 of those years.
Nancy is survived by six sisters, two brothers and their families: Frank (Jan) Klahs of Storm Lake; Sandra (Dennis) Smith of Parker, Colo.; Debra (Albert) Gutierrez of Brooksville, Fla.; Georgene Comparetto of Atlanta, Ga.; Karla (Ron) Madsen of Rembrandt; Pamela (Louis) Cerillo of Tampa, Fla.; Jeff (Sara) Klahs of Dripping Springs, Texas; Shelley Klahs of Byron, Minn.; many nieces, nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, F. Elmer and Myra Klahs; and her sister Mary Heber.
