Buena Vista Community Theatre is pleased to present “Matilda The Musical.”
Stage director Stephanie Brown and music director Deb Peterson are leading over 30 adults, teens and kids from eight area communities to bring this classic story to life at the Roxy Theater in Alta.
Performances are June 27 and 28 at 7 p.m. and June 29 at 2 p.m. Call 712-732-4157 to reserve tickets. Adult tickets are $15 for ages 13 years and older, and youth tickets are $10 for ages 12 years and younger.
The title role of Matilda is played by Jocelyn Kirkeby with Caitlin Wetter in the role of her favorite teacher, Miss Honey. Carrie Buddenhagen is taking on the role of Miss Trunchbull. Matilda’s family, the Wormwoods, are played by Jared Kirkeby, Emily Khamphasouk and Ryan McVinua. Jamie Buddenhagen is playing Rudolpho while Hannah Neumann is playing the librarian Mrs. Phelps.
The students include Haley Ackerman as Lavender, Tucker Buddenhagen as Bruce, Mia Berkland as Tommy, Norah Frank as Eric, Ever Nystrom as Nigel, Eden Smith as Amanda, Lillinore Watson as Alice and Logan McVinua as Hortensia. The youth ensemble includes Sawyer Millard, Nora Schaefer, Greta Moretz, Amelia Julius, Lylah Watson, Eli Kephart, Cali Pineda, Josie Svendsen, Taylor Peterson, Evie Wieland, Rachel Doellinger and Cael Kephart.
Bringing a variety of adult and teen characters to the stage are Ivy Story, Naomi WolfTornabane, Jocelyn Lilly, Rachel Doellinger, Melissa Doellinger, Jane Johnston, Pressley Johnston, Sativa Watson, Megan Julius and Maisey Murray.

Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She’s unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her school teacher Miss Honey. During her first term at school, the two forge a bond as Miss Honey begins to recognize and appreciate Matilda’s extraordinary personality. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however — the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves to punish those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils’ saving grace!
