Marathon Hometown Pride invites the community to enjoy a day of great food, classic cars, and community fun at Smoke & Wheels on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 306 W. Attica in Marathon.
The event will kick off with rib cook-off registration at 10 a.m., followed by car show registration from 1-3 p.m. The car show will run from 2-6 p.m., with rib judging at 3 p.m. A community dinner featuring ribs, pulled pork and hot dogs will be served from 4-6 p.m. for a free-will donation.
Community members are encouraged to bring anything on wheels, and kids are welcome to show off their bikes, trikes or other wheels! Whether you're bringing a classic car, participating in the rib cook-off or simply coming out to enjoy the food and festivities, everyone is invited.
The rib cook-off has a $5 entry fee, and the vehicle entry fee is also $5. All proceeds will support community betterment projects in Marathon.
To help organizers plan for enough supplies, those planning to participate in the rib cook-off are encouraged to contact Jon Carlsen at 712-204-0751. Day-of registration will also be available.
“Smoke & Wheels” offers a chance to savor the smoke, check out the wheels and spend time with neighbors while supporting projects that make Marathon a great place to live.
Smoke & Wheels is hosted by Marathon Hometown Pride, a Keep Iowa Beautiful Hometown Pride community working to strengthen and improve the Marathon community.
