Lois Ethlyn Crouch, 83, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, in Lake Mary, Fla.
Born Oct. 28, 1942, in Pipestone, Minn., to Edward and Ethlyn Wilson, Lois arrived seven minutes after her twin brother, Lee, much to the surprise of the doctor and her parents. She grew up in Storm Lake, graduating from Storm Lake High School in 1960 and Buena Vista University in 1964 with a double major in education and social studies.
On May 27, 1962, Lois married the love of her life, Robert Louis Crouch, at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake. Together, they shared over 64 years of devoted marriage. They were blessed with two beloved sons, Jeffery and Jerod. Lois built a career rich in service to others — teaching reading and social studies for 14 years, directing the Head Start program in Emmetsburg, working in insurance and Medicare claims, and later assisting students at Kirkwood Community College.
After retiring, Lois found great joy in quilting, creating beautiful blankets and keepsakes that are treasured by all who received them. She also delighted in spending time with her grandchildren, supporting their endeavors and creating fun memories like hosting garden tea parties.
Those who knew Lois remember her as a gentle soul and great listener who made everyone feel cared for. She never missed a chance to reach out with a phone call or letter. Lois enjoyed family gatherings, lunches with friends and fellowship through her church and women’s Methodist club. She had a sweet sense of humor with a fondness for silly jokes and will be remembered for her compassionate heart and encouraging words.
Lois is survived by her husband Robert; sons, Jeff (Cynthia) and Jerod (Jen); grandchildren: Chad, Lauren, Ashlee, Jasper, Bobby and RC; her twin brother Lee Wilson (Brenda); sister-in-law Bonnie Kimoto (Ray); and beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Lynne and Gus Tyroler; and her parents.
A memorial service will be held Aug. 22 at 1 p.m. at Lakeside United Methodist Church, 121 N. Henderson Lane in Sanford, FL 32771. Flowers may be sent to this address or a monetary donation to the Lakeside United Women in Faith.
