Graciela Vrieze

Graciela Vrieze, 58, of Killeen, Texas, died July 29, 2026, at Baylor, Scott, and White Medical Center in Temple, Texas.

Funeral Mass will take place Friday, Aug. 7, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 6, from 4-8 p.m. with Rosary at 8 p.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake.

Graciela was born June 19, 1968, to Sydney and Josefina Geering in Mexico. She was baptized as an infant and remained a lifelong catholic. After graduating high school, Graciela attended college in Mexico. She graduated with an associate degree in 1987.

On Aug. 28, 1987, Graciela was united in marriage to Terry Alan Vrieze in Yuma, Ariz. To this union, four children were born: Alan, Jennifer, Stephanie and Vanessa. In 2013, Ana and Montserrat joined the family via adoption. 

Graciela touched many lives through her work as the community service officer for the Storm Lake Police Department. When she wasn’t wearing her uniform, Graciela was the life of the party. She loved singing, dancing and dressing to impress. Graciela found joy in folklore dancing, singing in her church choir and collecting jewelry. Graciela also loved baking her famous banana bread. She and Terry made endless memories together while traveling and cruising. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Left to cherish Graciela’s memory include her husband Terry Vrieze of Killeen, Texas; children: Alan (Yicel) Vrieze of Charter Oak; Jennifer Vrieze of Killeen, Texas; Stephanie Vrieze of Storm Lake; Vanessa Vrieze of Omaha, Neb.; Ana Quej Flores of Storm Lake; Montserrat Quej Flores of Storm Lake; grandchildren: Lihley, Raymond, Elijah, Gracie and Jaxxon; extended family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sydney and Josefina Geering; and granddaughter Amarii Wallace.
