Glenn “Woody” Wilson, 76, of Storm Lake died Dec. 9, 2025, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.
A Time of Gathering to celebrate Glenn’s life will take place Saturday, Dec. 20, from 6-8 p.m. at Malarky’s Bar & Grill in Storm Lake. The family requests casual dress and Hawkeye attire in honor of Glenn. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Glenn was born Sept. 27, 1949, to Virgil and Bertha (Marti) Wilson in Algona. He was baptized in 1949 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in West Bend.
On Oct. 6, 1976, Woody was united in marriage to Shirley (Yates) Stevens. He welcomed Shirley’s two children, Jackie and Rod.
Woody and Shirley owned Embers Steakhouse in Storm Lake from 1994 until its closing in 2008. In 2014, many Storm Lake residents recognized Woody as he greeted Walmart customers until his recent health issues prevented him from working. In his free time, Woody enjoyed cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed watching Nascar races. Woody was known for his famous cheesecakes at family gatherings. He looked forward to any chance to travel. You could find his best friend and dog, Ace, by his side. More than anything, Woody treasured time with his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Woody is survived by his children: Jackie (Stevens) (Brad) Noble of Aurelia; Rodney Stevens of Alta; grandchildren: Elissa (Matt) Doebel of Storm Lake; Ben (Delanie) Stevens of Cedar Falls; Brooke Noble of Aurelia; Myriah (Alex) Burditt of Johnston; great-grandchildren: Ryker and Jovie Doebel; Sienna and Rowan Stevens; Aubree Noble; Dekker and Jett Burditt; siblings: Susanna Bredehoeft of West Bend; Robert Wilson of West Bend; Linda (Gary) Glaser of Las Vegas, Nev.; Theron (Penny) Wilson of West Bend; William (Sandy) Wilson of Columbus, Neb.; James (Evelyn) Wilson of West Bend; sister-in-law Tammy Wilson of Emmetsburg; extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Bertha Wilson; wife Shirley Wilson; siblings: Marion Strong, Betty Fowler, Virgil Wilson Jr., Marlon Wilson, John Wilson and Gloria Wilson; granddaughter Machayla Stevens; great-granddaughter Peyton Noble; parents-in-law, Charles and Edith Yates; siblings-in-law, Thomas Bredehoeft and Sharon Wilson.
