If there is an afternoon of music more enjoyable than listening to Al Sroufe sing with his own guitar accompaniment, it is when he pairs up with Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and exceptional bass playing buddy, Craig Phillips, and they go at it together!
“Albombo” came into being after numerous jam sessions at the Havelock Bar. The jams included various musicians and lasted for about 15 years. Through these years, Al and Craig would join up to perform as a duo to play at wineries and parties in the area.
The band Albombo consists of acoustic guitar player Al Sroufe with his sweet vocals and Craig Phillips accompanying on bass and back up vocals. The main genre is late 60s and 70s mixed in with some country and a touch of humor.
This fun-loving duo will perform on Sunday, June 29, beginning at 3 p.m. at the Fonda Arts Center, located on the northwest corner of Main and Fourth streets in Fonda. As almost always, admission is free, as are refreshments. Everyone is welcome.
