Craig Engelke, 59, of Sioux City, formerly of Storm Lake, died July 31, 2026, at his residence.

Funeral services will take place Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 2 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Visitation will be held from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Craig William Engelke was born Sept. 23, 1966, to Wallace and Barb (Lang) Engelke in St. Louis Park, Minn. He was baptized as an infant at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in 1966 and later confirmed his faith at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Craig attended school at Minnewashta Elementary School. He later graduated from Minnetonka High School in 1985. Craig furthered his education at Mankato State University and Anoka Technical College. Craig served honorably in the United States Army.

Craig started dating Stacy “Sam” Morehouse in 1989 and they were united in marriage on March 30, 2000, in Cherokee County. To this union, four children were born: Taylor, Alyssa, Madison and Brady. The couple welcomed two more daughters, Dylan and Riley.

Family was the center of Craig’s world. He started his day enjoying a morning cup of coffee or watching the news with his kids. He almost always had one of his children or grandchildren sitting on his lap. Sunday family dinners were the highlight of Craig’s week and he was deemed the family grill master, making the best steak. Craig was always up for adventure and trying anything that brought his family joy. Many memories were made while traveling, including trips in the camper, skiing and hiking. He shared his gift of music by singing or playing the guitar and he found joy in teaching his children how to play his guitar. Craig was a big sports fan. He coached his children’s baseball and softball teams, played catch with them at home, and could be found in the stands cheering them on. His animals, especially his dogs, held a special place in his heart. A true outdoorsman, Craig enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting targets and gardening with his family. One of Craig’s favorite places to visit was Lake Minnetonka in Minnesota. He loved to take in the sunsets, the moon and the northern lights. Craig saw a beauty in the world that most people would miss.

Craig was an accomplished professional with a history in sales and marketing as well as IT administration. During the last several months, Craig had been battling cancer. Despite his struggles, Craig still had an incredible work ethic and never complained. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
