Colleen Rae Stuckenschneider, endearingly called “Honey” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and all who knew her, died at the age of 77 on Friday, July 3, 2026, at her home in Sioux Rapids.
Memorial services will take place Tuesday, July 7, at 4 p.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake.
Colleen was born Jan. 21, 1949, the daughter of Claude “Lucky” and Thelma (Bice) Rimmer in Storm Lake. She grew up attending Hayes Consolidated School and later graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1967.
On Aug. 21, 1970, Colleen was united in marriage to Gary Lee Stuckenschneider in Elk Point, S.D. They were blessed with two children, Jodi Lee and Chad J.
Colleen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Colleen had a passion for painting and wasn't afraid to reinvent her home whenever inspiration struck. She repainted every room multiple times, keeping her husband guessing about what project he would come home to next. During the warm months, you could find her tending to her garden. She found joy in completing puzzles, crosswords and telling stories.
Above all else, Colleen treasured her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with them, cheering them on from the stands, celebrating their accomplishments or making memories together. Whether it was a school event, concert or family gathering, she was always there offering unwavering love and support. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the light of her life. She will be remembered for her caring heart, her quiet strength, her spicy personality and the love she freely gave to those around her. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
