Submission deadline is Oct. 1 at 4 p.m.

Posted

With the Storm Lake City Council’s recent approval of the downtown business blade sign program, the city’s Admin/Development Services Department has issued a Request for Quotes (RFQ) for qualified contractors and signage professionals to supply and professionally install exterior metal blade sign brackets on commercial storefronts throughout the Central Business District.

This enhancement initiative utilizes a total program funding pool of $30,000. The objective is to elevate downtown visual appeal, boost foot traffic, and establish signage uniformity across commercial properties by securing unit-based pricing to maximize participation within the budget.

Scope of Work Highlights

  • Bracket Supply: Sourcing durable, commercial-grade, weather-resistant metal brackets.
  • Site Assessment: Evaluating diverse building facades (e.g., historic brick, masonry, wood, metal) for proper non-destructive mounting.
  • Installation & Weatherproofing: Anchoring hardware per building codes and sealing all mounting points against weather exposure.

Submission Details & Requirements

Interested contractors must submit a detailed quote that includes bracket product cut-sheets, unit-based cost breakdowns (supply, hardware, labor, and total per unit), installation methodology, and proof of required liability insurance ($1,000,000 per occurrence / $2,000,000 aggregate). Submissions must also include a signed Hold Harmless and Indemnification Agreement. Selected contractors will be required to obtain sign and right-of-way permits prior to starting work.

  • Submission Deadline: Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
  • Delivery Options: Submissions can be sent via email to dutfield@stormlake.org  or delivered to City Hall at 620 Erie Street, Storm Lake, IA 50588.

Full RFQ documentation and submission forms can be obtained by contacting Lee Dutfield directly at 712-732-8000 or via email.

Once an installer has been chosen, more information will be shared on the application process for businesses. Participation will be first-come, first-served, limited to a maximum of $30,000 funding the council had budgeted earlier in capital improvement planning.
