City of Storm Lake seeks applications for Housing Rehabilitation Roofing Program

The City of Storm Lake is seeking applicants for an owner-occupied housing roofing rehabilitation grant. The city anticipates being able to assist six homeowners with exterior roofing rehabilitation of their homes.

Eligible applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  1. Residents must own the home and be the permanent resident in the home. Rental units and purchases on contract are NOT eligible.
  2. All residents living in the home must fully report and comply with providing financial income to verify eligibility for low-to-moderate income status which is based on the total income of all residents living in the home.
  3. All residents living in the home must be legal residents of the United States.
  4. The total household income (income of all residents in the home) must be at or below the limitations shown in the following table, based on the total number of household members.

Number of People in Household and 2026 Maximum Annual Income limit:

1- $54,250.00

2 -$62,000.00

3 -$69,750.00

4 -$77,500.00

5 -$83,700.00

6 -$89,900.00

7 -$96,100.00

8+- $102,300.00

* Income limits are subject  to change based on HUD annual review and publication.

The rehabilitation program is for exterior roof repairs only, and may include roof deck, roof covering and underlayment, shingles, soffit, fascia and gutters.

Qualified and awarded applicants may be eligible for up to $24,000 in exterior repairs to their roofs through a deferred forgivable loan over a five-year period following construction. The cost of the rehabilitation will be completely free if the homeowner remains in their home for five years following the project.
