Charles H. Dahl, 85, of Alta died Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.
Funeral services will take place Tuesday, April 21, at 11 a.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Alta. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Alta. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Charles Henry Dahl was born on Nov. 4, 1940, in Alta to Charles Vernon and Pearl (Peterson) Dahl.
Charles grew up in Alta, where he attended school and graduated in 1958. During his high school years, he enjoyed participating in track and field. Following graduation, he continued his education at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, where he also lettered in track in field while earning a degree in business in 1962.
On July 12, 1963, Charles was united in marriage to Barbara McCullough at the Methodist Church in Scranton. Together, they were blessed with one son, Charles Christopher “Chris” Dahl.
Charles carried on a proud family tradition as a fourth-generation blacksmith in Alta.
In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time at his blacksmith shop catting with friends.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Barbara Dahl of Storm Lake; son Chris (Claudette) Dahl of St. Charles, Mo.; granddaughters, Shannon and Lily Dahl of St. Louis, Mo.; sister Frances (Chester “Chip”) Comstock of Ames; extended family and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Vernon and Pearl Dahl.
