Nature and Canvas Aug. 2

Nature Trivia

Nature Trivia is a new program sponsored by Buena Vista Conservation this summer. Gather your team (up to five members per team) or test yourself on a number of trivia subjects ranging natural history to local fauna to Iowa facts. There will be prizes awarded to the winning team.

The trivia contest will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, in the South Shelter House at BV County Park near Peterson. Reservations for Iowa Trivia are required. RSVP to the conservation office by Friday, July 25, at 4 p.m. by calling 712-295-7985.

 

Naturalist Lunch Box: Dinosaurs

Naturalist Lunch Box is held at 12 p.m. on selected Fridays in the summer at Storm Lake Marina. Pack a lunch and join the fun! Naturalist Lunch Box is designed for all ages. The naturalist will present a short program on a selected topic and have hands on activities for younger audience members.

Friday, Aug. 1st at 12 p.m. will be the last Naturalist Lunch Box program of the summer. The topic for this week is dinosaurs. Join us to learn all about dinosaurs, make a craft and do dinosaur activities.

Storm Lake Marina is located at 207 West Marina Road, Storm Lake. If you plan on attending, please let the Conservation Office know by Wednesday, July 30, at 4 p.m. by calling 712-295-7985. This program can be canceled due to inclement weather or lack of participants.

 

Nature on Canvas

The BV County Conservation Board and Witter Gallery are excited to offer Nature on Canvas at the Gabrielson Shelter House in Sioux Rapids. Nature on Canvas is a step-by-step painting class for adults and young adults.

The class will take place on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The cost is $12 to cover supplies. Please bring cash or check. Checks can be made out to Witter Gallery. 

Light refreshments will be provided along with all materials needed for the painting. Space is limited and reservations are required for this program.
