Naturalist Lunch Box: Rocks

Summer has started and so has Naturalist Lunch Box. Naturalist Lunch Box is held at 12 p.m. on selected Fridays in the summer at Storm Lake Marina. Pack a lunch and join the fun. Naturalist Lunch Box is designed for all ages. The naturalist will present a short program on a selected topic and have hands-on activities for younger audience members.

Friday, July 11 at 12 p.m. will be the next Naturalist Lunch Box program. The topic for this week is rocks. Join us to learn all about rocks and have the opportunity to break open your very own geode.

Storm Lake Marina is located at 207 West Marina Road. If you plan on attending, please let the conservation office know by Wednesday, July 9, at 4 p.m. by calling 712-295-7985. This program can be canceled due to inclement weather or lack of participants.

 

Coffee & Canvas: Nature painting

The BV County Conservation Board and Witter Gallery are excited to partner up and offer Coffee and Canvas at the Gabrielson Shelter House in Sioux Rapids. Coffee and Canvas is a step-by-step painting class for adults and young adults.

The class will take place on Saturday, July 12, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The cost is $12 to cover supplies. Please bring cash or check. Checks can be made out to Witter Gallery. This month’s painting is a turtle on the beach.

Light refreshments will be provided along with all materials needed for the painting. Space is limited and reservations are required for this program. Please call the conservation office at 712-295-7985 by Thursday, July 10, at 4 p.m.

 

July Nature Sprouts

Nature Sprouts is for children ages 2 to 5 years. It will be held once a month, May through October, at Storm Lake Marina. Each month will be a new theme and we will have story, crafts, snacks and hands-on activities to fit the theme.

The next Nature Sprouts will be on Tuesday, July 22, at 10 a.m. Meet at the Storm Lake Marina patio. The theme for July is butterflies.

Nature Sprouts is free of charge. To register, call the conservation office at 712-295-7985 by Friday, July 18, at 4 p.m.
