Andrew Joseph Foster, 60, died at his home in New Braunfels, Texas, on Jan. 12, 2025.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 14, in Gruene, Texas at Gruene Hall from 4-7 p.m. A separate Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 24, at the Chautauqua Park Shelter House in Storm Lake from 2-6 p.m. All are welcome to attend who would like to honor and celebrate the life of Andy.
Andy was born Nov. 30, 1964, in Omaha, Neb., the son of John R. Foster and Mary Devine Foster. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1982 and spent several years working in Storm Lake where he met his long-time friend and the mother of his daughter, Linda Francis, before moving to Iowa City. On April 6, 1995, Andy became the proud father of Brennan Rickman-Francis Foster. He moved to Texas in 1999 to be close to his daughter and lived in various cities including Austin, Bastrop and New Braunfels.
Andy’s passion was music. He was a talented musician and songwriter and enjoyed listening to live performances whenever he could. He loved to play his guitar and share his written songs with friends and family. His songs were often filled with humor, including our family favorite, which he wrote for a family member having a hard time finding a good man called “My Man-picker’s Broke.”
Andy was a humble intellectual, winning trivia challenges easily and often outwitting us all. His math skills were astounding. He enjoyed playing golf with friends and sharing stories. He was the life of the party and carried a light-hearted spirit throughout his days. He often reminded us all to not take life so seriously.
Those left to cherish Andy’s memory include his daughter Bree Foster of New York City, N.Y.; siblings: Thomas (Mary) Foster of Omaha, Neb.; Edward Foster of Des Moines; Ann (Daniel) Braly of Lakehills, Texas; John P. Foster of Storm Lake; and twin brother Matthew Foster of Coralville; nephew Aaron (Stacey) Boger of San Antonio, Texas; niece Whitney (Mark) Guvernator of Houston, Texas; extended family and many friends.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Devine Foster and John R. Foster; brothers, Richard and Robert Foster; and brother-in-law Daniel Braly.
