Wilma Lang

Wilma L. Lang, 87, of Storm Lake died Nov. 18, 2022 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 23, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake was in charge of arrangements.

Wilma Leone Lang was born Oct. 15, 1935 to William “Stub” and Hazel (Witthauer) McConkey. She grew up in Storm Lake, attending school at Storm Lake Schools and graduating in 1954.

On June 27, 1955, Wilma and David Lang were united in marriage at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. To this union five children were born: William, Marla, Pamela, Beverly and Deborah.

Wilma raised her family and later began a babysitting service. In 1999, she started working at Dollar General where she worked the rest of her life. In her free time, Wilma enjoyed bowling and chatting with friends on the phone. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish Wilma’s memory are her children: William (Jan) Lang of Alta; Marla (Jim) Lawson of Overland Park, Kan.; Pamela (Randy) Persoon of Alta; Beverly Schlegel-Lang (Mitch Goodlet) of Raytown, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents William “Stub” and Hazel (Witthauer) McConkey; husband David Lang; and daughter Deborah Mueggenberg.
