Suzette Occhibone of Sioux City, formerly of Storm Lake, was born Feb. 20, 1946, to Maurice Sorensen and Lenora Fay in Fort Dodge.
Suzette was 77 when she was tragically taken Oct. 26, 2023. While we grapple with the shock and pain of this sudden departure, we are gathering to celebrate her life, to honor her memory and find solace in our shared grief. A brief service will be held at Storm Lake Cemetery on Sunday, April 14, at 1 p.m. A Celebration of life and luncheon following at one of her many fishing spots, the Chautauqua Park Shelter, 410 Lakeshore Dr., Storm Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Lenora; her beloved husband of 46 years, Joseph Occhibone; her in-laws, Lewis and Elva Iosty; brothers, Edwin Sorensen and Maurice Sorensen; sister Marilyn Hitt.
Those cherishing her memory include sister in-law Janet Sorensen of California; brother-in-law Dennis Iosty (Pamella) of Storm Lake.
Suzette leaves behind a wonderful bunch of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and fishing buddies. Also, her daughter Sandra and husband Barry Clark of Council Bluffs; grandson T.J. Mrsny (Erin), grandson Chad Mrsny (Amanda), granddaughter Chantel Strohbehn (Logan), grandson Kenton Russell and 11 great-grandchildren.
Suzette leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience. Her memory will inspire us to be better and to cherish our time with loved ones.
