SL picks up 20th win of season


Avery DeHaan hit a two-run home run and Maddy Raveling collected three hits to help power Storm Lake to a 9-5 nonconference win over Humboldt on Monday at Tornado Field.

Storm Lake (20-3) scored four runs in the first inning on a two-run homer by DeHaan and a two-run single by Cole Richardson.

Humboldt cut the deficit to 4-2 in the third, but Storm Lake countered with four more runs in the third on a two-run double by Taylor Ripke, an RBI bunt by Kennadie Miller and an RBI single by Hailey Anderson.

Raveling drove in a run with a double to make it 9-3 in the sixth inning.

Storm Lake recorded 12 hits in the game. Raveling led the way with three. DeHaan, Ripke, Anderson and Mackenzie Harder all added two hits apiece.

DeHaan scored three runs while Harder and Ripke each scored twice.

DeHaan got the win. She allowed 14 hits and five earned runs, walked none and struck out six in seven innings.
