Sioux Central wins regular season softball finale over MMCRU, 6-2


Sioux Central came up with three runs in the sixth inning to take control as the Rebels went on to beat MMCRU 6-2 in the regular season finale on Monday at Peterson.

Sioux Central (21-6) scored one run in the fourth and two in the fifth to grab a 3-0 lead before the Royals plated two in the sixth to make it 3-2.

The Rebels recorded 11 hits in the game. Nichole Hart, Natalie Laursen, Kailee Laursen and Preslie Peterson all had two to lead the way. Bradi Krager, Morgan Christian and Avery Wilson each had one hit.

Natalie Laursen drove in two runs while Christian, Hart and Ava McCarty all had one RBI. Kailee Laursen scored two runs.

Krager got the win. She allowed three hits and two runs, walked none and struck out seven in seven innings.

“I was really happy with our pitching and defense,” Sioux Central coach Kasey Krager said. “We made a lot of great plays and that’s what it will take in the postseason. I’m really proud of the regular season and we are anxious to start regional play.”
