Sioux Central drops softball game to MVAOCOU, 5-1

Sioux Central was held to five hits as the Rebels were defeated by MVAOCOU 5-1 in a nonconference game last Friday at Mapleton.

MVAOCOU scored three runs in the first inning and two in the fifth. The Rebels scored their lone run in the fourth inning.

Bradi Krager, Morgan Christian, Natalie Laursen, Ava McCarty and Preslie Peterson all had a single for Sioux Central (20-6). Peterson drove in a run.

Victori Meyer took the loss. She allowed three hits and three runs, walked two and struck out none in four innings. Sage Weber gave up one hit and two runs, walked one and struck out one in two innings of relief.

“MVAOCOU made a lot of great plays in this game, which limited our inning length,” Sioux Central coach Kasey Krager said. “We had some nice plays defensively, but just didn’t have enough offensively to get things going. Give them credit for making the plays and pushing runners across home plate while only having four hits in the game. There are some things to learn from this game, so we’ll apply that to the remaining games."
