Sharon Lee Ruliffson, 81, of Hudgins, Va., formerly of Storm Lake, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2023 in Virginia.

Memorial services will take place Friday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery.

She endured many other health problems during her 60½ years of marriage, in addition to the rigors of raising her two children alone through CAPT Ruliffson’s seven at-sea deployments to the Western Pacific, three of which were combat deployments during the Vietnam conflict.

Sharon is the daughter of long time Storm Lake residents Sid and Era Hyllested, both deceased; and younger sister to Sally Tryon and Sandy Edwards, both living.

Sharon and James have two children, Lisa Leigh Stanley (Larry) and Craig James Ruliffson (deceased). Sharon has four grandchildren: Charles Russo, Christy Williams (James), Katelin Nelson and Kelly Nelson; and a single great-grandson, Everett Williams.

Sharon will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many who knew her.
