Ridge View gets past Treynor in district baseball tournament


Ridge View rallied for three runs in the top of the sixth inning to take control as the Raptors went on to beat Treynor 4-2 in a Class 2A district semifinal game on Tuesday in Council Bluffs.

Ridge View, now 16-9, will play No. 3 Underwood (25-2) in a district final game on Saturday in Council Bluffs.

The game was scoreless through the first four innings before Ridge View got on the scoreboard in the fifth when Conner Jacobson singled to score Kyle Burk.

Treynor scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth via three walks and two hit batters.

The Raptors loaded the bases with a walk, an error and a single when Noah Struck delivered the clutch hit with a two-run double. A groundout by Burk scored another run to make it 4-2.

Ridge View recorded nine hits in the game. Jacobson, Struck and Owen Worthan led the way with two hits apiece. Blake Myrtue, Burk and Aiden Myrtue each had one hit.

Struck drove in two runs while Burk and Jacobson each had one RBI.

Jacobson was the winning pitcher in relief. He allowed no hits and no runs, walked two and struck out two in 22⁄3 innings. Blake Myrtue started and gave up four hits and no runs, walked two and struck out three in four innings. Ryan Barry allowed no hits and two runs, walked three and struck out none in one-third of an inning.
