Richard Clark

Richard G. Clark, 89, of Storm Lake died Nov. 22, 2022 at his residence.

Funeral services will take place Saturday, Nov. 26, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements.

Richard Guy Clark was born March 10, 1933 to Grant and Velma (Steward) Clark in Adaza. He graduated high school from Churdan Public in 1953. Richard served in the United States Army from Sept. 10, 1953 to Aug. 5, 1955. He served in the Korean War, earning the National Defense Medal and Army of Occupation Medal from his service in Germany.

He was baptized in 1958 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jefferson. More recently, Richard was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake, where he served on the Hospitality Ministers and St. Mary’s Booster Club.

On June 14, 1958, Richard married Karen Dimig at St. Joseph’s Church in Jefferson. To this union, three children were born: Melanie, Lesa and Blake.

Richard enjoyed the outdoors and was passionate about fishing and hunting. He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with his family. Richard enjoyed working at Hygrade and Iowa Central Community College. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish Richard’s memory is his wife Karen Clark of Storm Lake; children: Melanie (Robert) Pries of Sioux City; Lesa (Bill) Todd of Storm Lake; Blake (Lori) Clark of Park Rapids, Minn.; sister Berniece Taylor of Jefferson; grandchildren: Matt (Sylvia) Todd of Storm Lake; Nicole Moninger of Sioux City; Kayla (Eric) Rojas of Sioux City; Kaleb Clark of Gillette, Wyo.; Hope (Ridge) Brown of Nevis, Minn.; Alexis (DeAngelo) Davis of Sioux City; great-grandchildren: Brendon Todd, Gunnar Moninger, Dylan Todd, Aaliyah Rojas; and sisters-in-law: Rita Clark of Des Moines; and Joyce Clark of Jefferson; nieces; nephews; extended family and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his infant son, Cary Grant Clark; parents Velma and Grant Clark; parents-in-law Leo and Dorothy Dimig; brothers: Eugene (Bertha) Clark, Melvin Clark and Duane Clark; sister Phyllis (Kenny) Meyer; brother-in-law Richard Johnson; nephew Chad Johnson; several in-laws and family.
