Mary Lou Lyman Herzog, 66, of Cedar Falls died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.
Memorial services will take place Friday, Aug. 11, at 1 p.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Thursday, Aug. 10, from 5-7 p.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Newell Food Pantry, 119 S. Fulton, Newell, IA 50568 or the Newell New Pool Fund, C/O Newell City Hall, 207 E. Second St., Newell, IA 50568.
On Feb. 1, 1957, Mary Lou Lyman Herzog was born to Robert and Marjorie (Jackson) Lyman in Storm Lake. She graduated high school in 1975 from Newell Providence in Newell.
Mary was united in marriage to Kerry Herzog on Aug. 29, 1997 in Guttenberg.
Mary worked as the manager of Mrs. Mom’s restaurant in Storm Lake. Most recently, she worked for Guttenberg Industries and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Guttenberg. In her free time, Mary volunteered at the Catholic Worker House in Waterloo. She loved to golf. Mary’s family was everything to her and she had a special bond with all her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Left to cherish Mary’s memory include her brothers: Mitch (Lauri) Lyman, Mike (Joan) Lyman, Merle (Mary Beth) Lyman and Mark (Diane) Lyman; sister, Mardel (Wes) Frick; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kerry Herzog on Dec. 31, 2022; parents, Robert and Marjorie Lyman; and grandparents, Dean and Helen Lyman.
