Kenneth Alroy Swenson, 91, of Albert City passed away peacefully on Jan. 15, 2024 at Methodist Manor in Storm Lake.
Funeral services will take place Monday, Jan. 22, at 11 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert City. Burial will follow in Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City. Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 21, from 2-3:30 p.m. at Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City. Memorials may be directed to Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert City.
Kenny was born on April 9, 1932, to Anton and Ruth Swenson of Clayton, Wis. When Kenny was four, they moved to a farm near Kandiyohi, Minn. He attended Tripolis Lutheran Church in rural Kandiyohi and graduated from Wilmar, Minn. High School.
Kenny served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War where he was stationed in Boston, Mass. It was in Boston that he met the love of his life, Lorraine Connors. They were married in Boston on Nov. 17, 1953. This marriage was blessed with two children, Sandra and Glen.
In 1955, they moved to Albert City where he began farming with his uncle, Gus Swenson. He farmed for 42 years, retiring in 1997. During his retirement years he enjoyed helping out on the farm, was board chairman for Pleasant View Nursing Home and also enjoyed doing maintenance for the nursing home. He made many special friends with the nursing home staff.
Kenny was a member of Albert City Legion and was a devoted member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert City. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband of 67 years, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Left to cherish his memory include his son Glen (Betty) of Albert City; son-in-law Jeff Adams of Madison, Ala.; grandchildren: Jillian Turner of Madison, Ala.; Kyle (Jenn) Swenson of Albert City; Karla (Josh) Dahlin of Ankeny; great-grandchildren: Khloe Turner; Tate Swenson; Hudson, Boyd and Eve Dahlin; extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Ruth Swenson; wife Lorraine Swenson; daughter Sandra Adams; siblings: Arnold (Catherine) Swenson, Lorraine (Bill) Elmquist, Florence (Alton) Erickson; siblings-in-law: Franny Connors, Bill (Judy) Connors and Irene Connors; and niece Laura Vernon.
