Gary Fulcher

Gary L. Fulcher, 74, of Lakeside died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023 at Methodist Manor in Storm Lake.

Memorial Mass will take place Monday, Oct. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 8, from 5-7 p.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Gary's family requests that casual attire be worn to his visitation and service.

Gary Linn Fulcher was born Jan. 5, 1949 to Richard and Gerrolyn (Hoff) Fulcher. He attended Our Lady of Good Counsel School in Fonda, graduating in 1967. Gary served his country as a member of the Army Reserves from 1971-1976. He was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Gary was also a member of Knights of Columbus.

On Jan. 2, 1971, Gary was united in marriage to Diane Schott at St. Columbkille Church in Varina. They were blessed with three sons: Jeff, Kyle and Nathan.

Gary worked for Hygrade foods then ABZ Lumber in Colorado. He took the skills he learned and became the owner of Newell Lumber, then transitioned into sales for Comnet Cellular and Midwest Wireless. Gary was forced into retirement due to his health.

Gary enjoyed sharing his love for sports as a volunteer youth sports coach. His favorite teams included the St. Mary’s Panthers, Iowa Hawkeyes and Denver Broncos. In his free time, Gary was an avid golfer. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish Gary’s memory include his wife Diane Fulcher of Lakeside; children: Jeff (Jen) Fulcher of Storm Lake; Kyle (Cari) Fulcher of Omaha, Neb.; Nathan (Bobby) Fulcher of Santa Monica, Calif.; brothers: Mark (Amy) Fulcher of Kansas; Mike (Tamera) Fulcher of Wyoming; grandchildren: Ellie and Emily Fulcher of Omaha, Neb.; Jaden and Josie Henrichs of Storm Lake; sisters-in-law: Kayleen Fulcher of Illinois; Kathy (LeRoy) Jergens of Iowa; Bonnie (Richard) Buelt of Iowa; extended family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Gerrolyn (Hoff) Fulcher; brothers: Dick (Pat) Fulcher, John Fulcher and Paul (Cynthia) Fulcher; sister Karleen Belz; and parents-in-law Walter and Ruth Schott.
