Flood recovery continues in Sioux Rapids

“They would have been better off having a tornado or a fire instead of a flood,” said Kirsten Case Fuller, Regional Director of SBDC Iowa, who helped Sioux Rapids business people apply for assistance last week. Problems with procuring flood insurance, especially for businesses on the east side of Hwy. 71, left those affected with few, if any, resources. “That’s a penny,” said Case Fuller, of the business owner who was able to collect $10,000 on an insurance claim. There are 60 businesses in Sioux Rapids and many are essential to residents, she added. TIMES PILOT photos by DOLORES CULLEN
