Diana L. Campbell, 75, of Yankton, S.D., died peacefully Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall, S.D., with her daughter by her side.
Diana L. Campbell was born Jan. 29, 1949, in Yankton, S.D., to Elmer and Loretta (Schmidt) Hauck. She grew up in Yankton and graduated from Yankton High School in 1967. She then attended Black Hills State University in Rapid City, S.D., where she received her degree in business. She moved to Sioux Falls, S.D. for a short time and then moved to Klamath Falls, Ore., where she worked as a teller.
Diana moved to Storm Lake and worked at First Federal Bank, first as a teller and then became the vice president of the saving and loan department. She married Brian Campbell and in 1985 welcomed their daughter, Chelsea into the world. Diana moved to Yankton, S.D. in 1995 and worked at the Rural Development Office, Human Services Center and lastly, at First Bank Card Center.
Diana was a kind, loving woman who would help anyone in need. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter, playing cards and watching movies and the Hallmark Channel. If you were to ask her what her greatest accomplishment was she would say being a mother to her daughter, Chelsea. Her strong faith, her friends and her family meant everything to her, and carried her through the toughest of times. She is loved and missed by many, but will live on in their hearts forever. Her daughter will be the first to tell people, Diana was an angel on Earth, and now she has her wings.
Survivors include her daughter Chelsea Campbell of Yankton; sister Donna (Paul) Koth of Alta; niece Jennifer (Tim) Hauck-Hynan of Portland, Ore.; nephew Jon Hauck of Oregon; nephew Matthew Koth of Aurelia; great-nieces, Brooke and Avery; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Loretta Hauck; brother Dale Hauck; former husband Brian Campbell; and numerous aunts and uncles as well as her cousin, Pam Lanigan.
Memorial services were held July 30 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Yankton, S.D. Arrangements were provided by Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton.
