Charlene Lickiss

Funeral services for Charlene C. Lickiss, 81, of Aurelia, formerly of Storm Lake, will be held Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Aurelia. Pastor Mike Agnew will officiate. Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 7, from 4-7 p.m. at the church with the family present. Burial will be in Pitcher Township Cemetery, Aurelia. Redig Funeral Home of Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.

Charlene Carole Waddell was born Sept. 7, 1943, in Aurelia, the daughter of Charles and LaMerne (Crippen) Waddell. She attended school in Aurelia, graduating in 1961. She attended dental school. On Nov. 30, 1963, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Larry D. Lickiss at First United Methodist Church in Aurelia. The couple made their home in Storm Lake where the couple was blessed with three children: Stephen, Laura and Anthony. Charlene worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Quick in Storm Lake. Later she was employed at the Department of Human Services in Storm Lake. After Larry died May 26, 2003, Charlene moved back to Aurelia, living with her sister Marilyn Waddell.

Charlene was a member of First United Methodist Church in Aurelia. She loved spending time with her family, reading and cuddling her pets.  Charlene died Saturday, Nov. 2, at Accura Health Care in Aurelia, where she had been a resident since March 22, 2024.

Preceding Charlene in death were her parents; father-in-law Murl Lickiss; mother-in-law Winona Driggs and her husband Clyde Driggs; husband Larry Lickiss; brother and his wife, Robert and Anna Waddell; step sister-in-law Helen Driggs; and nephew Charles T. Waddell.

Surviving Charlene are her three children: Stephen (Becky) Lickiss of Cherokee; Laura (Jon) Lane of Lander, Wyo.; and Anthony (Daniel) Lickiss of Phoenix, Ariz. Also surviving are three grandchildren: Claire Lane, Erica Lane and Andrew Lane, all of Lander, Wyo.; one step- grandchild, Samantha (Mandy) Wagner of Sioux City; sister Marilyn Waddell of Aurelia; brother-in-law Neil (Anna Marie) Lickiss of Cherokee; two step brothers-in-law, Chuck Driggs of Le Mars; and Doug (Diana) Driggs of Cherokee; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
