Cathy A. Swanson, 74, of Storm Lake died Oct. 13, 2022 at MercyOne Medical Center in Sioux City. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 24, at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will take place Sunday, Oct. 23, from 4-7 p.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Casual dress and Hawkeyes gear may be worn in honor of Cathy. Cathy Ann Swanson was born on July 13, 1948 to John and Frances (Fellows) Jones in York, Neb. Cathy was in fourth grade when her family moved from Columbus, Neb. to Storm Lake. She graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1966. In 1986, Cathy married Bob Swanson in Storm Lake. During her time in the Storm Lake community, Cathy worked a variety of jobs including the Pizza House, Storm Lake Drug, Commercial Bank (later Central Bank), and Bil Mar Foods (later Sara Lee) until her retirement in 2010. After her retirement, Cathy worked part-time at Taylor Construction and Blue Lake Investing. Cathy loved reading books, watching Chicago P.D. and Law & Order, completing crossword puzzles, traveling to various casinos, and watching Iowa Hawkeyes football (especially at her favorite spot, Puffs). Cathy treasured her time with family and was a familiar face in the crowd at her grandchildren’s sporting events. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Left to cherish her memory includes her husband, Bob Swanson of Storm Lake; children: Todd (Lori) Jones of Stephens City, Va.; Jeremiah (Angie) Swanson of Lisbon; Marria (Corey) Kuhlemeier of Rudd; Ginger (Justin) Lyman of Newell; siblings: Mike (Patty) Jones of Storm Lake; Pat Jones of Storm Lake; Vicki Jones of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren: Amelia Swanson of Lisbon; Keely Kuhlemeier of Belmond; Brody Kuhlemeier of Ames; Branden Kuhlemeier of Rudd; Nevaeh Lyman of Newell; Guyson Lyman of Newell; great-grandchildren: Hudson Soma of Belmond; Raelynn Soma of Belmond; several nieces, nephews and friends. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Francis Jones; and sister, Linda Kurth.
