Carroll Lloyd Boisen, 90, of Storm Lake was reunited with the Lord on Nov. 11, 2022 after a brief illness.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 18, from 5-7 p.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake.
Carroll was born Aug. 24, 1932 and raised on a farm near Early. He was baptized and confirmed in Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cook Township. He attended school in Early graduating in 1949. After graduation he elected to help with the family farming operation. In addition to his farming responsibilities, Carroll enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing.
In January of 1953, he was inducted into the Army. After basic training he was sent to Korea as a heavy equipment mechanic. He was honorably discharged in December of 1954. Upon return, he went back to the family farm. Movies and skating were the primary entertainment and of course, dancing at the Cobblestone Inn.
He met his future wife (Patricia Margaret Fritz) at the skating rink in Storm Lake. They were later married in 1958 and to this union, six children were born: Tim (Sandy) of Sioux Rapids; Traci (Todd) of Bloomington, Ind.; Trudi (Greg) of Dallas, Texas; Troy (Carrie) of Richmond, Texas; Trent (Tracy) of Tampa, Fla.; and Tara of Chicago, Ill.
In 1970, Carroll left the farm and moved the family to Storm Lake, where he was employed at Hygrade pork plant until it closed in 1981. He then found employment with the Storm Lake school system, retiring in 2002 after 19 years. With retirement Carroll enjoyed time with his wife, family, fishing and gardening. He was also an avid Hawkeyes fan, seizing every opportunity to watch them play on TV. Carroll was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and active in the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Carroll was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Henrietta Boisen; his loving wife Patricia (Fritz); his brothers: Verdeen and LaVerne Boisen; and a sister, Darlene Rasmussen.
He is survived by his sister Alice Pinnekamp; and brother, Paul Boisen.
Carroll influenced the lives of so many young people with his work in the Storm Lake schools and so many shared those special memories as adults with Carroll and the family. To his children, Carroll (or “CB”), will always be remembered as a quiet, kind soul whose love was unconditional.
