Carolyn Ann Brown was born Oct. 20, 1945, to Vincent and Josephine (Berding) Brown in Clinton. She graduated high school and earned a bachelor of arts from Marycrest College in 1972. She worked a variety of jobs throughout her career, but most recently Cary worked as the secretary at Early United Methodist Church. She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac City. Cary’s spiritual life was an inspiration to everyone who met her, and she found joy in guest preaching in many small churches in Northwest Iowa and serving as a spiritual director. She also developed and taught many faith-sharing Bible studies.

In her free time, Cary was a prolific card maker and enjoyed tracking the weather for the locations of her many friends. Cary will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her brother Paul (Kathleen) Brown of Urbandale; nephews: Peter Brown of West Des Moines; and Andrew (Abbey) Brown of Lenexa, Kan.; cousins, Dennis (Ann) and Jolene Holdgrafer of Marion; goddaughter Meghan Holdgrafer; and all those friends who Cary claimed as family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Rita Brown.
