Ardyce Ann Anderson, 91, of Alta passed away Friday, May 3, 2024, at Accura Nursing Home in Aurelia.

Memorial services will take place Tuesday, May 7, at 2 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rembrandt. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Alta is in charge of the arrangements.

Ardyce was born Nov. 19, 1932, to Lawrence and Myrtle (Lorence) Garton in Marathon. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran church of rural Alta. Ardyce graduated from Highview High School in 1950, where she played six-on-six basketball. She attended secretarial school in Sioux City, and later worked as a bookkeeper in Sioux Rapids at Herrig Implement.

She met the love of her life on a blind date attending the Clay County Fair. Ardyce and Dick were married Sept. 30, 1951. To this union three daughters were born: Cindy, Leigh and Shelley. The family first lived in Alta, then moved to the family farm.

Ardyce was a member of PEO where she held many offices, promoted the organization and helped many individuals with scholarships. She was a faithful lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she participated in Ladies Aid and was a Sunday School teacher.

Ardyce and Dick spent many summers fishing in Lake of the Woods. You could find Ardyce with a fishing pole in one hand and a Reader’s Digest in the other. On occasion, Dick would be known to throw the book in the lake. Ardyce enjoyed playing Bridge and attending her grandkids and great-grandkids’ events. No family gathering would be complete without Grandma Ardyce’s rye bread. She passed on her talent of bread making to her daughter, Shelley. She is remembered for her funny bits of wisdom and catching mistakes in grammar. Ardyce’s commitment to family left a legacy of what family means.

She is survived by her husband, Dick, of 72 years; her daughters: Cindy (Pete) Nielsen of Alta; Leigh (Mike) Madsen of Alta; Shelley (Rick) Glienke of Alta; grandchildren: Adam (Kara) Nielsen of Alta; Jon (Katherine) Nielsen of Savage, Minn.; Melissa (Mesh) Sambu of Des Moines; Ashley (Josh) Lund of Waukee; Tyler Glienke (Melissa Snyder) of Storm Lake; Chris Glienke (Allyson Pagel) of Iowa Falls; nine great-grandchildren: Tenley and Kace Nielsen; Brynn Nielsen; Isiah, Jordan and Kyleigh Sambu; Ava and Elijah Lund; Keegan, Kaeden and Kielee Larson; Benjamin Glienke; brother-in-law Ken Anderson of Anchorage, Alaska; niece Dawn (Dave) Fagerlee; nephews, Todd Cradit and Jeff Cradit; and countless extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Clifton and Sylvia Anderson; stepmother-in-law Evelyn Anderson; and sister Janet Cradit.
