Ardis Gadeken

Ardis Jean Gadeken, 85, of Lincoln, Neb., formerly of Storm Lake, passed away on March 13, 2024.

Ardis Jean McLaughlin was born Jan. 16, 1939, in Lake City, to Lester Eugene “Red” McLaughlin and Henrietta (Fischer) McLaughlin. Ardis attended Storm Lake public schools graduating with the class of 1957. She went to Buena Vista College in Storm Lake following graduation.

She was united in marriage to Harry Kenneth Roberts in Omaha, Neb. in 1958. This union was blessed with three sons: Kenneth, Dennis and Randall. She was widowed when her husband was killed while serving in Guam.

Ardis married Henry “Hank” Gadeken of Talmage, Neb. on March 11, 1967. They lived life to the fullest. Ardis and Hank enjoyed camping as well as taking cruises and traveling to Arizona in the winters.  Ardis was known to enjoy square dancing, playing cards and attending music jams and rodeos. She loved playing in her kitchen bands and will be remembered for her unique laugh. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband, Hank Gadeken; and sons: Kenneth Roberts of Humboldt, Minn.; Dennis Roberts of Mesa, Ariz.; and Randall Roberts of Omaha, Neb.; and niece Denise (McLaughlin) Werkmeister of Lake View.

Ardis was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Harry Roberts; sisters: Geraldine Eugenia (Jeri Jean) White, Joy Ann Phillips and Mona Rae Kinney; brother Dennis Dean McLaughlin; and nephew Dennis Lee McLaughlin.
