Jeanette Krebs

Jeanette Ann Krebs, 92, of Spencer, formally of Laurens, passed away Nov. 26, 2023 at Longhouse Care Center. 

Jeanette was the daughter of Frank C. and Theresa K. (Determan) Wolterman, born Dec. 1, 1930, in a country home near Maple River. She was the fifth child of 11. At a young age the family moved to the Ed Mohr farm south of Fonda where her first years of education were in a country school and then Our Lady of Good Counsel school in Fonda, graduating in 1949. After graduation she began employment at First National Bank in Fonda. 

On Sept. 11, 1950, she married John (Jack) Bernard Krebs at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church with Rev. J.J. Howley officiating. Jack passed away April 26, 1999.  Three children blessed this family: twin daughters, Kathryn Ann and Carolyn Jean, and son, Alan Francis.

Jeanette’s years were filled with family life, employment at the bank and assisting her husband, Jack, in the tavern/restaurant, Jack’s Tavern, for nine years in Varina.

In 1968 the family moved to Marathon for Jack’s employment with the Farmer’s Cooperative Association and Jeanette began her employment with the Laurens House of Print for 30 years; retiring in 1999.

In 1978 they moved to Laurens where she continued to live until June 2022.

During Jeanette and Jack’s 49 years of marriage, they enjoyed dancing, fishing, golfing, gardening, playing pinochle and many family gatherings. Jeanette felt blessed to share many years with her family and friends.

Jeanette is survived by her children: Kay (Neil) Bailey of Elizabeth, Ill.; Carol (Dave) Anderson of Milford; and Alan (Kim) Krebs of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; grandchildren: Jeff (Jill) Bailey, Chris (Jackie) Bailey, Mike (Christina) Anderson, Mark (Jess) Anderson and Greg (Amanda) Anderson; great-grandchildren: Grace, Ruby and Violet Bailey, Charlize and Evelyn Bailey, Braden and Isabelle Anderson and Dylan DeMoss, Owen and Eden Anderson, Olivia and Everly Anderson; great-great grandchild, Jaxon DeMoss; sisters: Maribeth (Lyle) U’Ren of Reno, Nev.; and Joleen (Dave) U’Ren of  Rushford, Minn; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack; parents, Frank C. and Theresa K. Wolterman; sisters: Clarice Murphy, Rosemary Kappenman, Marilyn Wendinger, Shirley Fitzgerald and Muriel Kammermeyer; brothers: Gerald Wolterman, Duane Wolterman and Stanley Wolterman; brothers-in-law: Jim Murphy, James Kappenman, Clarence Wendinger, Jack Fitzgerald and John Kammermeyer; and sisters-in-law, Marie Wolterman and Lorraine Wolterman.

Burial will be in St. Andrews Cemetery in Fairfax, Minn. Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
