In loving memory of Florence Marie Dodd, who went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Dec. 18, 2023.
Celebration of Life services will take place Saturday, May 11, from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Alta.
Florence (Dolly) was born on Nov. 12, 1930 to William and Katherine Mastel. She had 10 siblings. She was born in Ipswich, S.D., and graduated from Holy Cross School in Ipswich, S.D.
Florence was united in marriage to George Kidwell Dodd on Oct. 11, 1948. They were blessed with 11 children: George Jr., Joseph, Glen, Margaret (Peggy), Carol, Karen, Kenny, Lora, Gary, Christine and William.
Florence loved gardening, quilting, crocheting, cooking, baking, collecting hundreds of ceramic chickens, spending time with all her family and visiting friends and her weekly visit to Wel-Life. Florence’s greatest joy was her love for her family and friends and her nurturing spirit and love for all of them.
Preceeding her in death was her husband George of 49 years; her sons, William Dodd and Kenneth Dodd; grandsons: Michael Kelley and Cody Kelley; great-great-grandchildren, Olivia Kelley and Sebastion Langley.
Left to cherish her memory include: George Jr. (Shirley) Dodd of Sarcoxie, Mo.; Joseph (Shirley) Dodd of Cherokee; Glen (Deb) Dodd of Aurelia; Margaret (Peggy) Korleski of Aurelia; Carol (Tommy) Langley of Weston, Mo.; Karen Bond of Gowrie; Lora (David) Brosseau of Cedar Rapids; Gary (LaDonna) Dodd of Cleghorn; Christine (Phil) Swim O’Fallon of Missouri; 29 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
Florence was a prayer warrior through the prayer line and continued to pray for people daily.
