Alta-Aurelia beats Manson in TLC play

Alta-Aurelia set the tone with a four-run first inning as the Warriors went on to beat Manson Northwest Webster 12-6 in a Twin Lakes Conference game last Friday.

The Warriors plated two runs in the second, one in the third, one in the fourth, three in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Alta-Aurelia recorded 10 hits in the game. Peyton Meyer led the way with three. Sam Sennert and Camden Reinert each had two while Cale Brechwald, Maddux McCoy and Payton Syndergaar each had one hit.

McCoy drove in three runs. Brechwald, Meyer, Jaxson Page, Angus Miller and Cale Sievers all had one RBI. Sennert and Reinert scored three runs while Meyer scored twice.

Sennert was the winning pitcher. He allowed eight hits and five runs, one of which was earned, walked one and struck out nine in 61⁄3 innings.

“I was happy with how we went on the road and got a win at the end of a long week,” Alta-Aurelia coach Ryan Burkhart said. “We didn’t have our full roster and I thought every guy that we plugged into the lineup found a way to contribute and help us win. Sam Sennert was great on the mound and gave us longevity and kept Manson off the scoreboard for much of the game. Peyton Meyer did a good job coming in to close out the game and get us the win.

“The boys have played well through adversity to get us into a first place tie in the conference at this time,” Burkhart added. “To be heading into the last week of conference play with a chance to win another conference title is exciting for the guys. It’s been a goal of theirs and they are pursuing it with all they’ve got.”
