Storm Lake Times Pilot

Whatchamacallit

Dave Bannister of Storm Lake is the first caller with the correct answer, and the winner of our latest Whatchamacallit.

The object was a TV antenna rotator. By pushing the lever near the bottom, the antenna on the roof could be turned to better receive a signal.

“I remember it as a kid,” said Dave. “My grandfather had one.” Dave’s grandfather, who lived on a farm north of Mallard, had to rotate the antenna to tune in a Mankato station (where he watched Bonanza or Gunsmoke). In case you can’t read it, the letters in the four circles are N, S, E and W for north, south, east and west.
