SL boys serve up win, girls fall to Spirit Lake

Storm Lake’s Eh Ler Moo Taw hits a shot back to her opponent during Monday’s Lakes Conference meet against Spirit Lake.

Storm Lake won five of the six matches in singles as the Tornadoes went on to defeat Spirit Lake 7-2 in a Lakes Conference boys tennis match on Monday in Spirit Lake.

Jaylen Saengchanpheng was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at No. 1 singles while Kevin Lopez won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2. Josh Steffen prevailed 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3.

Wency Navarro was a 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-7) winner at No. 4 and Leo Vang won 7-5, 7-6   (7-4) at No. 6.

In doubles, Saengchanpheng and Lopez were 6-1,   6-3 winners at No. 1. Steffen and Navarro prevailed 6-2,    2-6, 1-0 (11-9) at No. 2.

SPIRIT LAKE won the girls meet 9-0 played in Storm Lake. The closest match was a 10-4 setback for Eh Ler Moo Taw and Morgan Sievert at No. 3 doubles.
