“Our team really battled hard,” Sioux Central coach Kasey Krager said. “This team has a lot of toughness and a willingness to play their role to help the team. We had given up four runs in the top of the third and then answered back with a big inning of our own in the bottom of the fourth, scoring seven. The girls are really focused at the plate and doing good things.”

Alta-Aurelia finished with six hits. Emma Peterson had a double. Shea Peterson, Jessica Larson, Alli Magnussen, Lucy Gunkelman and Jenna Nielsen each added a single. Angela Lopez scored two runs. Emma Peterson drove in three runs while Lopez and Shea Peterson each had an RBI.

Alta-Aurelia committed four errors in the game.

“We had a bad inning in the fifth that really set us back,” Alta-Aurelia coach Bill Walters said. “They made some good adjustments at the plate. You can’t give good teams five outs in an inning. Emma Peterson had a big three-run double for us and did a nice job at the plate.”
