German Feast carry-out meal fundraiser announced

You are invited to enjoy the sixth-annual German Feast Meal to benefit Hanover Historical Society on Saturday, Sept. 25, starting at 6 pm. The Hanover Historical Society Board of Directors is hosting this carry-out only German meal as a fundraiser. Tickets for this contact-free, drive-thru pick-up meal are $20 per meal and must be reserved in advance by calling the Hanover Feast reservation line at 712-434-5888. Meals will be available for pick-up at the Aurelia Community Center, 235 Main St., Aurelia.

The traditional German Feast includes sauerbraten, mashed potatoes and gravy, brats and Bavarian sauerkraut, hot German potato salad, home grown sweet corn, homemade apple sauce, cucumber salad, fresh tomatoes, home-canned beet pickles and apple cake with butter sauce. It is a favorite in Northwest Iowa.

Established in 1997, Hanover Historical Society is a nonprofit organization that collects, preserves and interprets the history of the people who have made rural northwest Iowa their home. The Hanover Historical Village site, located at the corner of M-27 and C-65 in southwest Buena Vista County, preserves the cultural heritage and historic environment of the Hanover community and hosts a festival each year on the last Sunday in August. The society depends entirely upon fund-raising activities, membership dues, grants, and donations for financial support.
