Emmetsburg wins boys Twin Lakes golf tournament


Alta-Aurelia’s Cale Brechwald, Connor Weinhold and Jack Bloom all finished in the top 15 overall to make the all-conference team at Wednesday’s Twin Lakes Conference tournament in Fort Dodge.

Emmetsburg had all six of its players finish in the top 12 overall as the E-Hawks went on to win the Twin Lakes Conference boys golf tournament on Wednesday in Fort Dodge.

Emmetsburg finished with a 330 team score. Alta-Aurelia was third with a 348, Newell-Fonda fourth with a 350, Storm Lake St. Mary’s eighth with a 377 and Sioux Central was 10th with a 417.

Cale Brechwald had the low score for Alta-Aurelia with an 84. Jack Bloom and Connor Weinhold each shot an 87. Carson Reinert and Isaiah Segovia each golfed a 90 and Lucas Baker had a 102.

Newell-Fonda was led by Mason Dicks, who finished third overall with a 78. Guyson Lyman carded a 90 while Izak Baron and Beau Wilken each shot a 91. Ryan Greenfield and Jaron Vanderhoff eac stroked a 98 for the Mustangs.

St. Mary’s Mason Laven was the tournamrnt runner-up medalist with a 76. Lane Carlson carded a 97, Bennett Smith a 100 and Toby Jones shot a 104. Tanner Fiorendino golfed a 109 and John Heitman finished with a 117.

Nathan Kueny led Sioux Central with a round of 79, which was good for fifth place. Rayce Meyer golfed a 106, Jaxson Payne a 114 and Carson Gunnerson a 118. Grayson Hermstad stroked a 121 and Bryson Smith finished with a 124.

Laven, Dicks, Kueny, Brechwald, Bloom and Weinhold all made the all-conference team by finishing in the top 15 overall.

“I’m really happy for the boys as they continue to improve and learn how to compete on the course,” Alta-Aurelia coach Mark Henningsen said. “Their concentration and focus was strong and we avoided the big mistakes. It is so fun to see Connor Weinhold and Jack Bloom earn all-conference honors and for Cale Brechwald to do that for the second year in a row is great. Carson Reinert and Isaiah Segovia were close as well missing by two strokes. This group is fun and enjoys being around each other, which is special.”
