Doris Sievers


Doris Sievers, 99, of Madrid, formerly of Storm Lake, died on July 25, 2022 at the Madrid Home.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 5, at 11 a.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place starting at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Doris, the youngest child of Frank and Nelle (Niebel) Gothier was born on March 2, 1923 in Anthon. She attended school in Anthon, graduating in 1941. She continued her education at Wayne State in Nebraska where she received her B.A. degree in May of 1945. After graduation, she taught school in Albert City for two years.

On June 19, 1949, Doris was united in marriage to Wayne Sievers at the Methodist Church in Anthon. They lived on a farm northeast of Storm Lake where they raised their three sons: Don, Rich and Alan.

In 1963, Doris began a 25-year teaching career in Storm Lake. They moved to Storm Lake in 1978 and they both retired in 1988. Retirement provided them time for winters in California and Arizona, and traveling to Europe, Alaska and Hawaii.

Doris was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Federated Woman’s Club of Albert City, PEO Chapter JD of Storm Lake, Sarah Circle and several bridge clubs.

Those left to cherish her memory are Don (Pat) Sievers of Divide, Colo.; Rich (Marina) Sievers of New Braunfels, Texas; Alan (Kathy) Sievers of Polk City; six grandsons: Scott and Todd Sievers; Scott and Todd Buckley; Josh and Mike Sievers; granddaughter Amanda Sievers Lake; numerous great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Nelle (Niebel) Gothier; husband Wayne in 1998; brothers: Everett Gothier and Don Gothier; and sister Frances Schuh.
